Name: Eden Peters
Date: Friday March 10, 2017
Placement: Thornhill Public School
Purpose
To create unit posters to hang up around the classroom.
Task
On Thursday March 23, the classroom teacher will be away and I will be leading the math lesson (which will be focused on their new unit, Money). By creating the posters, I will have a better understanding of what the children will be learning (their learning goals) and what they will need to accomplish (their success criteria).
Objectives
To create neat and organized posters that include all of the information on the unit that will be explored.
To gain an understanding of the learning goals and success criteria before planning a lesson for the children.
To assist the teacher in preparing for the lessons that will take place after the March break.
Description
In the past, I have created the posters for other units and the teacher seemed to enjoy my primary printing. She asked me if I would be able to write up another poster for the upcoming math unit and I happily agreed. I wrote down the learning goals and the success criteria for the Money unit and I was able to understand what the children will be learning after the March break.
Materials:
Chart paper
Markers
Reflection
I feel that this administrative task was very helpful as I now have more insight on what the children will be learning and I will be able to plan a more effective learning experience for them. Although the grade 1’s and 2’s have slightly different learning goals and success criteria, I feel that I will be able to plan an inclusive lesson for all of the children in the class.
