Purpose:
Today I had the privilege of meeting Child A. Prior to our introduction I was informed that she LOVES baking all sorts of different desserts. Once Child A and I had been talking for a few minutes, I asked her if she wanted to bake something. Child A seemed very excited about this activity, so together we chose what we wanted to make!
Activity:
I took out all of the ingredients from the cupboards and preheated the oven. While the oven was warming up, Child A and I began to mix the ingredients in a big bowl. I would fill up a measuring spoon with the instructed ingredient and together (hand over hand) Child A and I would pour it into the bowl.
Once the cookies were in the oven, Child A and I tried to create an orange coloured icing to decorate the cookies with. We chose to make the icing orange because Thanksgiving was coming up and we wanted to be festive.
When the cookies were out of the oven and they had a chance to cool down, I put the icing into Ziploc bags and cut a hole in the tip of the bag. In doing this, I was able to provide Child A with the opportunity to decorate the cookies while accommodating her physical needs.

I feel that Child A enjoyed this activity and it was a good way for me to build rapport with her. Moreover, the cookies were delicious and everyone in the house loved them!
This is definitely an activity that I will do again with Child A or another child!
